Main documents needed to apply for an e-Visa
Valid Passport
The most essential document is a valid passport that won’t expire within the next 6 months (or longer, depending on the period of stay and specific visa requirements).
During the application process for an online visa, you must share the scanned bio-data page of a passport. Thanks to this, immigration authorities can verify personal and travel details quickly. The scan should be clear and of good quality.
Digital Face Photo
The next crucial step is to take a face photo to verify the identity. Generally, the photo should be:
- taken on a white background
- colorful
- of the good quality
- clearly show the full face
- without accessories obscuring features
- in JPEG or PNG file format
- meet size requirements
- recent (taken within the last 6 months)
Usually, wearing a hat and glasses is not acceptable. However, if the head covering is necessary for religious purposes, you may have it. Also, some rare medical circumstances enable wearing glasses (they can’t cover the eyes and make glare, shadows, or refractions).

Another document proving travel plans is a flight ticket. It shows the entry and exit dates from the country, which proves no overstaying. The document must have the following information:
- Passenger’s details (name/surname)
- Arrival and departure airports
- Date of the travel
- Airport terminals
- Airline company name
- IATA codes
Other documents
Besides the above documents, you may be asked to attach more papers, depending on the specific country's regulations. For example, to apply for an Australian ETA, you must also provide a letter of good conduct from an employer in case of a prior criminal conviction.
