Air Travel Agreement Between Iran and Tajikistan
Iran and Tajikistan took a significant step toward deepening their relationship with the introduction of a visa-free air travel agreement. This agreement reflects both nations’ commitment to strengthening ties in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
Under this new policy, citizens holding Iranian or Tajikistani passports can travel by air between Tehran and Dushanbe without a visa, enjoying stays of up to 30 days within any 90-day period.
For longer visits, travelers will still need to apply for the appropriate visa.
The exemption applies exclusively to air travel; those crossing land borders or traveling via third countries will still need to obtain visas.
Iranian officials emphasize the importance of this move in boosting people-to-people connections and economic opportunities. Currently, around 8,000 Tajik citizens visit Iran annually, and it can be increased to 100,000 with the new policy in place.
By removing bureaucratic barriers and making travel more accessible, Iran and Tajikistan are paving the way for increased tourism, stronger business relationships, and deeper cultural understanding between their peoples.
