Morocco Entry Rules Change: Update for Europeans
Morocco authorities are considering implementing changes to entry rules, particularly for European travelers. To visit Morocco without trouble, we advise staying updated on the subject.
Currently, EU citizens can enter Morocco without a visa for stays up to 90 days – to do so, they only need a valid passport. But this situation may change very soon.
The Moroccan government has proposed a visa requirement for EU citizens as a reciprocity measure, following the strict visa policies of the European Union for travelers from Morocco.
If implemented, the new visa rules would require European visitors to apply for a tourist visa before traveling to Morocco, adding time and paperwork to their plans.
While no official date has been set, Europeans planning to visit Morocco should stay informed about updates from official sources and, if necessary, obtain the required documents.
Beyond potential visa changes, other entry requirements remain unchanged. All travelers must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the intended stay, proof of onward or return travel, and sometimes proof of accommodation.
For those planning Sahara Desert trips, special travel insurance covering desert activities is now mandatory.
Some experts express worry that Morocco's tourism sector, which heavily relies on foreign visitors, could be negatively impacted by those changes. For example, Morocco welcomed 8.8 million foreign visitors in 2024, mostly from Europe.
