Taiwan Arrival Card Information

The Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) is an online arrival form for travellers entering Taiwan. It replaced the former paper-based arrival card and allows travellers to submit their immigration information before arrival. The system is managed by Taiwan's National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior, Republic of China (Taiwan). The Taiwan Arrival Card is not a visa and does not replace visa or entry permit requirements.

Who Must Complete the Taiwan Arrival Card?

The Taiwan Arrival Card is required for selected categories of travellers entering Taiwan. This includes many short-term foreign visitors, including visa-exempt travellers and travellers entering with a visitor visa.

  • Foreign nationals entering Taiwan with a visitor visa
  • Visa-exempt foreign visitors
  • Hong Kong and Macao residents with a multiple-entry permit
  • Mainland Chinese residents with a multiple-entry tourist permit
  • Nationals without household registration in Taiwan who do not hold a Resident Certificate

Who Does Not Need the Taiwan Arrival Card?

Some travellers may not need to complete the Taiwan Arrival Card, depending on their immigration status and travel document. Travellers should always check the latest official requirements before departure.

  • Taiwan nationals with household registration
  • Holders of an Alien Resident Certificate
  • Holders of a Resident Visa
  • Holders of a Diplomatic Identification Card
  • Direct transit passengers who do not pass through immigration control

Important: Transit passengers who need to pass through immigration, collect baggage, re-check in, or enter Taiwan may need to submit the Taiwan Arrival Card.

When to Submit the Taiwan Arrival Card

Travellers should submit the Taiwan Arrival Card within 7 days before their scheduled arrival in Taiwan. The form must be completed before immigration clearance, so it is best to submit it before departure. Do not wait until the last moment to complete your submission.

Tip: Submit your Taiwan Arrival Card after your flight and accommodation details are confirmed, ideally before going to the airport.

Required Information and Documents

Before starting the form, travellers should have the following information ready:

  • Valid passport
  • Valid email address
  • Phone number
  • Occupation
  • Arrival date and flight or vessel details
  • Accommodation information in Taiwan
  • Visa or entry status details, if applicable

Optional: A passport data page image may be uploaded to help auto-fill personal details, if supported by the system.

How to Complete the Taiwan Arrival Card

Step 1: Open the Official TWAC Platform

Open the official Taiwan Arrival Card platform before travelling to Taiwan.

Step 2: Verify Your Email Address

Enter a valid email address and complete the email verification process before proceeding.

Step 3: Enter Passport Details

Enter your personal and passport information exactly as it appears in your passport.

Step 4: Enter Travel Details

Provide your arrival date, flight or vessel information, travel purpose, and planned stay details.

Step 5: Add Accommodation Information

Enter your hotel, host, or first accommodation address in Taiwan.

Step 6: Review the Information

Check all details carefully before submitting to ensure everything is accurate.

Step 7: Submit and Check Your Email

Submit the completed form and check your registered email address for the confirmation message.

Confirmation Email

After the Taiwan Arrival Card is submitted, the system sends a confirmation email to the registered email address. Travellers do not normally need to present the confirmation during inspection, because immigration officers can retrieve the TWAC data when scanning the passport.

However, travellers should keep the confirmation email available during travel.

Important: The Taiwan Arrival Card confirmation is not a visa approval and is not a QR code receipt.

Can I Edit the Taiwan Arrival Card After Submission?

Travellers may review and edit their submitted Taiwan Arrival Card information online. If travel details, flight information, or accommodation information changes before arrival, travellers should update the TWAC record before immigration clearance.

This ensures that the information held by immigration officers is accurate when your passport is scanned.

Family and Group Submission

The TWAC system supports group submission. One person may complete Taiwan Arrival Card forms for up to 16 travellers, which is useful for families, tour groups, and business groups travelling together.

Each traveller's passport and travel details must still be entered accurately.

Is the Taiwan Arrival Card a Visa?

The Taiwan Arrival Card is not a visa. It is an online arrival form used for immigration clearance. Travellers who require a Taiwan visa, eVisa, or entry permit must obtain the correct document separately before travelling.

Important: A completed Taiwan Arrival Card does not guarantee entry into Taiwan.

Taiwan Entry Requirements

The Taiwan Arrival Card is only one part of the entry process. Travellers must also meet Taiwan's passport, visa, and immigration requirements. Immigration officers may request additional documents at the border.

  • Valid passport
  • Valid visa, eVisa, visa exemption, or entry permit, if applicable
  • Return or onward ticket, if required
  • Accommodation details in Taiwan
  • Supporting travel documents, if requested
  • Proof of sufficient funds, if requested

Transit Information

Direct transit passengers who remain in the international transit area and do not pass through immigration control usually do not need to complete the Taiwan Arrival Card.

If a traveller needs to enter Taiwan, collect baggage, re-check in, or pass through immigration, the Taiwan Arrival Card may be required. Travellers should confirm their requirements with their airline or airport staff before departure.

  • Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
  • Taipei Songshan Airport
  • Kaohsiung International Airport
  • Taichung International Airport
